This stunning Art Deco, lidded box was hand-crafted in France in the 1930s. The lid is ornate with bone marquetry. The design is very modernist, using bovine bone slices to create a stunning decorative ensemble. The body of the box is made of Macassar wood, and the inside is lined with tropical wood. Aside from the ebony-wood symbol carved inside the lid, no maker's signature is visible. We have not identified the artist.
