This very decorative model features the iconic Eiffel Tower crafted of plywood as a tall-scale miniature sculpture. Apprentices or master craftsmen create unique architectural models to claim a title of mastery with their respective guilds.
Gustave Eiffel built the Eiffel Tower for the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. At that time, many regarded the massive iron structure with skepticism. A huge controversy erupted at the end of the fair because many people wanted this horrible monument to be dismantled. However, thanks to the relentless efforts of Gustave Eiffel himself, the tower was never removed. And fortunately, today, the "Tour Eiffel" serves a vital role in visual world culture and is considered an architectural wonder.
This imposing handcrafted sculpture is in excellent condition, and at the same time, its warm patina shows its more than century-old history.
