This is a spectacular oversized 1970s lightbox with Mao Tse Tung's (Mao Zedong) silkscreen reversed painting on acrylic after Andy Warhol's (1928 - 1987) design. It features a drum-shaped lightbox metal framing with off-white enamel. The stunning illuminated Pop-Art portrait of Mao Tse-Tung is in the style of Andy Warhol Mao silkscreen portrait created in 1972. Two pieces with serigraphy printed acrylic front fitting over a rear metal drum box with an updated LED light fixture. There is no visible maker's mark.

Note: Mao 1973. Andy Warhol American. In 1972 U.S. President Richard Nixon traveled to China to meet Chairman Mao Zedong, ending years of diplomatic isolation between the two nations. This historic event captured the imagination of Warhol, who, between 1972 and 1973, created 199 silkscreen paintings of Mao on five scales.
