Maitland-Smith designed this spectacular lidded box. The piece was crafted circa 1980. The box features a tessellated composition of marble, stone, travertine, and brass. The pyramidal, square-shaped design features sand beige, black, and off-white colors, with an interesting geometric checkerboard marquetry pattern. The inside is lined in beige suede, and the lid has a little brass finial. There is no visible maker's mark.
