About:
Margaret created her jewelry business at 40 years old after teaching public school art classes for many years. Her vision, unique aesthetic, and drive were the foundation of a 30-year business. She never thought of it as a job. It was her passion.Margaret was never one to do things the easy way. In the early days, she went from store to store pitching her work and leaving behind Goo-Goo clusters to remind people that her unique product was from Nashville. She chose to position her jewelry to the fashion trade rather than pursue the more obvious craft show audience and had lots of success. Her pieces were featured in every major fashion publication in the 1990s and had a prominent placement in the series "Sex and The City" and the movie "The Devil Wears Prada". But most importantly, Margaret loved her customers. You were her friends.
Margaret Ellis passed away on January 2018 in San Miguel, Mexico following her courageous two-year battle with cancer.
She retired five years ago and sold her business to Mclaine Richardson.
Richardson launched Margaret Ellis Jewelry in January 2013 after she purchased Margaret Ellis, Inc. from the legendary founder upon her retirement. Mclaine chose to honor her mentor's 30-year design history and long-time collectors by keeping the name Margaret, but it is now often referred to simply as ME.
