About:
Monique Vedie was born in the 1920s and has been a student of Line Vautrin in Paris, where she learned her famous Talosel process. When she established her company, Vedie designed cellulose acetate jewelry with rich colors, mostly fruits, flowers, and a few characters. In the beginning, the look of her pieces was very similar to Vautrin's work. All her jewelry pieces are hand-made and hand-crafted. The creations are unsigned, but the style is unique and highly recognizable. Before retiring in 1992, she worked with many prestigious Parisian fashion houses, from Paulette to Jean Barther, and collaborated with couturiers such as Lanvin, Dior, and Ungaro. The signature style established by Vedie is continued under the company "CILEA" by present designer Stephane Ravel. Cilea Paris now mainly works for French designer Francoise Montague and also under their label.
